Which types of imaging centres use PostDICOM?

PostDICOM is used by outpatient diagnostic centres, multi-location imaging networks, women's imaging and breast care centres, musculoskeletal and sports imaging centres, walk-in and urgent imaging centres, and specialist diagnostic facilities — any facility that acquires DICOM studies and needs to deliver them digitally to referring physicians and patients.

Outpatient Diagnostic Imaging Centres

Dedicated outpatient facilities offering CT, MRI, X-ray, and ultrasound. PostDICOM connects your devices, stores studies in the cloud, and delivers images and completed reports to referring physicians — no PACS servers on-site.

Multi-Location Imaging Networks

Chains of imaging centres sharing a single cloud archive. Studies from all locations are accessible to radiologists and administrators in one place — with role-based permissions, multi-location organisation, and centralised study management across the entire network.

Women's Imaging & Breast Care Centres

Centres specialising in mammography, breast MRI, and breast ultrasound. Share imaging studies securely with gynaecologists, oncologists, and breast surgeons. Patients receive their images via a link or a printable QR code handed over at their appointment.

Musculoskeletal & Sports Imaging Centres

Centres focused on MSK MRI, X-ray, and ultrasound, primarily serving orthopaedic surgeons and sports medicine physicians as their referring base. Fast, clean image delivery keeps surgeons sending their patients to you rather than a competitor.

Walk-In & Urgent Imaging Centres

High-volume centres handling walk-in or same-day scan requests without pre-registered orders. PostDICOM builds the patient record automatically from the DICOM tags in the incoming study — no manual data entry at the device for unscheduled patients.

Specialist Diagnostic Centres

PET/CT centres, cardiac imaging facilities, and neuroradiology centres serving specialist physicians. PostDICOM supports all DICOM modalities and delivers high-resolution studies to referring specialists via secure browser links.

How does the imaging centre workflow work in PostDICOM?

PostDICOM handles both delivery pathways in a single workflow: your imaging device sends the study to the cloud automatically, the radiologist reads and attaches the report in the browser, and a password-protected link delivers images and report to the referring physician — while the patient receives a separate link or printable QR code — all without CDs, fax machines, or manual steps.

01

Device sends the study automatically

Your CT, MRI, X-ray, or ultrasound sends the DICOM study to PostDICOM via the Medical Device Communicator immediately after acquisition. The study is in the cloud within minutes — no manual upload, no CD, and no IT intervention required.

02

Radiologist reads and attaches the report

The radiologist opens the study in the PostDICOM viewer from any browser — on-site or remotely. They complete the report using a modality-based template. The finished report attaches to the study automatically and is ready to share.

03

Referring physician receives images and report

A password-protected link delivers the study and attached PDF report to the referring physician by email. They open both in their modern web browsers — no additional DICOM software, no PostDICOM account needed. Set an expiry date and optional Two-Factor Authentication on the link.

04

Patient receives their imaging study

Send the patient a separate share link by email, or print a page with the URL, password, and QR code to hand over at the end of their appointment. The patient opens their images in modern web browsers — with no account, no app, and no CD required.

What does PostDICOM include for imaging centre operations?

PostDICOM includes automatic device integration via the Medical Device Communicator, a zero-footprint browser-based viewer, digital delivery to referring physicians and patients, multi-location management, and standalone order and worklist management — all built to work together from day one, with no on-site servers required.

Automatic Device Integration

The Medical Device Communicator connects your CT, MRI, X-ray, ultrasound, mammography, and other DICOM-capable devices directly to PostDICOM. Studies route to the cloud automatically after acquisition — no manual upload, no CD burning, no intermediate storage step.

Referring Physician Delivery

Generate a password-protected share link containing the study and the attached PDF report and send it to the referring physician by email. They open both securely in their modern web browser, no additional DICOM software, no PostDICOM account required. Set an expiry date and optionally enable Two-Factor Authentication.

Patient Image Delivery

Send the patient a password-protected share link by email, or generate a printable page with the URL, password, and QR code to hand over at their appointment. The patient opens their images in modern web browsers — no account, no app, and no CD required.

Zero-Footprint Dicom Viewer

Radiologists read studies in any browser without installing viewer software on their workstation. Zoom, window and level, measurements, MPR, MIP, and 3D volume rendering load immediately. Modality-based report templates are built in, and completed reports attach to the study automatically.

Multi-Location Management

Run all your imaging locations from a single PostDICOM account. Studies from every site arrive in one cloud archive, organised by location, patient, and date. Define role-based access for radiologists, technologists, and administrative staff across the entire network.

Order & Worklist Management

PostDICOM works as a complete standalone system — no RIS required. Create scan orders before the patient arrives; your imaging devices retrieve the worklist automatically via DICOM MWL. Incoming studies match the order and are filed under the correct patient record. For walk-in patients, PostDICOM builds the patient record automatically from the DICOM tags in the incoming study.

Referring Physician Delivery

How do imaging centres deliver images and reports to referring physicians?

PostDICOM delivers images and the completed PDF report to the referring physician via a single password-protected link sent by email — they click it, open everything in their browser with no additional software, and the study is ready to review within minutes of acquisition. Fast, clean delivery is how imaging centres build referring physician loyalty and keep surgeons and GPs sending their patients back to you.

Common questions

How do imaging devices connect to PostDICOM?

The Medical Device Communicator (MeDiC) is a lightweight software component that connects your DICOM-capable devices — CT, MRI, X-ray, ultrasound, mammography, and others — to your PostDICOM account. Studies are routed to the cloud automatically after each acquisition. No manual upload and no intermediate storage step is required.

How do we send images and the report to referring physicians?

After the radiologist completes and attaches the report, generate a password-protected share link for the study and send it to the referring physician by email. They click the link, enter the password, and open the study images and the PDF report in their browser — on any device, with no additional software and no PostDICOM account required. You can set an expiry date and optionally enable Two-Factor Authentication on the link.

How do patients receive their imaging studies?

You can send the patient a password-protected share link by email, or generate a printable page with the URL, password, and QR code to hand over at their appointment. The patient clicks the link or scans the QR code and opens their images in any browser — no app, no account, no CD required.

Can we manage multiple imaging centre locations from one account?

Yes. All locations operate under a single PostDICOM account. Studies from every site arrive in one cloud archive, organised by location, patient, and date. Role-based permissions control what radiologists, technologists, and administrative staff at each location can view or do. Radiologists can access studies from all locations from any browser.

Can PostDICOM work without a RIS?

Yes. PostDICOM can operate as a complete standalone system. Create scan orders before the patient arrives and your imaging devices retrieve the worklist automatically via DICOM MWL. Incoming studies match the order and are filed under the correct patient record automatically. For walk-in patients with no pre-registered order, PostDICOM builds the patient record from the DICOM tags in the incoming study.

Can PostDICOM integrate with our existing RIS?

Yes. PostDICOM offers JavaScript, FHIR, and DICOMweb integration options, usable from the browser or server side. Connect your radiology information system to automate worklist delivery to devices, study routing, share link generation for referring physicians, and patient notification workflows. API access is included in the Enterprise plan.

What imaging modalities are supported?

PostDICOM supports all standard DICOM modalities — CT, MRI, digital radiography (DR), computed radiography (CR), ultrasound, mammography, PET, PET-CT, nuclear medicine, fluoroscopy, dental X-ray, DEXA, and others. Any device that outputs standard DICOM files is compatible with the Medical Device Communicator.

Can we require Two-Factor Authentication on share links?

Yes. When generating a share link, you can optionally enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA). The recipient receives a 6-digit one-time code to their email address before the study opens. This is available for both referring physician and patient share links.

Where is study data stored?

When you create your PostDICOM account, you select your primary storage location from 12 independent Microsoft Azure regions: EU (Germany (Frankfurt), France (Paris)), USA (East, West, South Central), UK (London), Switzerland (Zurich), Canada (Montreal), Asia-Pacific (Singapore, Australia (Sydney), India (Pune)), and South America (Brazil(São Paulo)). Your data is hosted within your selected jurisdiction to help you meet local data residency requirements and comply with regional healthcare privacy laws (such as GDPR or HIPAA).

Is the platform secure for patient imaging data?

Yes. All data in transit is encrypted via TLS 1.2 or 1.3 over HTTPS. Data at rest is encrypted with AES-256. Share links are password-protected and expire on the date you set. Two-Factor Authentication is available for additional link security. PostDICOM holds CE Mark Class IIb medical device certification, ISO 13485 quality management, and ISO 27001 information security certification.

What happens to our data if we cancel our subscription?

Before cancelling, download all DICOM studies and documents you wish to retain. When your subscription ends, all patient data is permanently deleted from our systems. Your account record is retained for accounting purposes only.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. All plans include a 7-day free trial with full access to your selected plan's features. We use Stripe 3D Secure authentication at sign-up to verify your card — this is a 0 authorisation. You are not charged until your 7-day trial expires, and your subscription auto-renews unless cancelled. You can easily cancel any time before the trial ends.
