Who Uses PostDICOM
Any dental practice that acquires CBCT or DICOM dental X-rays and needs to share them with specialists can use PostDICOM — from a single general practice with one CBCT unit to a dental service organisation with dozens of locations.
General dentists with an in-house CBCT unit who need to store 3D scans securely and share them with oral surgeons, orthodontists, or implant specialists. PostDICOM stores the scan in the cloud and lets you share it via a browser link — no specialist software required at either end.
Practices performing implant planning, wisdom tooth removal, bone grafting, and other surgical procedures that rely heavily on CBCT. Store pre-operative and post-operative scans in the cloud and share treatment plans alongside imaging with referring dentists and patients.
Orthodontists using CBCT for treatment planning, cephalometric analysis, and airway assessment. Share 3D scans with referring dentists and dental specialists via a secure browser link — without requiring them to install CBCT viewer software.
Academic dental departments and training clinics that handle high volumes of CBCT and dental X-rays across multiple departments. Role-based access lets consultants, registrars, and students see the studies appropriate to their level without sharing the full archive.
Oral and maxillofacial radiologists providing CBCT interpretation to dental practices. Receive scans from referring practices via secure share links, report in the PostDICOM viewer, and return the written report and images to the referring dentist — no PACS-to-PACS connection required.
Dental service organisations and multi-location dental groups with CBCT units across several practices. All locations share a single PostDICOM account — studies are organised by location, patient, and date, and every authorised team member accesses the same cloud archive.
End-to-End Workflow
The CBCT unit sends the scan directly to PostDICOM's cloud via the Medical Device Communicator the moment acquisition completes — no manual export needed. From there, the practice reviews it in any browser and shares it with any specialist via a secure link, without additional DICOM viewer software at either end.
Your CBCT unit or panoramic X-ray sends the DICOM study to PostDICOM via the Medical Device Communicator immediately after acquisition. The scan is in the cloud within minutes — no manual export, no USB drive, no intermediate step.
Open the CBCT in the PostDICOM viewer from any browser — at the surgery, on a laptop in the consultation room, or from home. Full MPR in axial, sagittal, and coronal planes, 3D volume rendering, and measurements are all available without installing any additional software.
Generate a password-protected share link and send it to the oral surgeon, orthodontist, or implant specialist by email. They click the link, enter the password, and open the full 3D scan in their browser — no additional DICOM viewer, no CBCT software, and no PostDICOM account required at their end.
If the patient is seeking a second opinion or visiting another practice, send them a password-protected share link or generate a printable QR code at the end of their appointment. The patient opens the scan on their computer, phone or tablet — no account, no app, and no CD required.
Platform Capabilities
A cloud CBCT platform needs device integration, 3D browser viewing, specialist sharing, patient delivery, order management, and document co-storage to handle the full dental imaging workflow — all without additional software at the practice or specialist's end.
The Medical Device Communicator connects your CBCT unit, panoramic X-ray, and other DICOM-capable dental imaging devices directly to PostDICOM. Studies route to the cloud automatically after acquisition — no manual export, no USB transfer, no CD burning.
Generate a password-protected, time-limited share link for any scan and send it to the oral surgeon, orthodontist, or implant specialist by email. They open the full 3D scan in their browser — no additional DICOM viewer, no CBCT software, and no PostDICOM account needed at their end.
The PostDICOM viewer runs in any modern browser and supports full CBCT viewing — axial, sagittal, and coronal MPR, 3D volume rendering, window and level adjustment, and linear measurements. No installation required at the viewing end. 2D panoramic and periapical X-rays open in the same viewer.
Send the patient a password-protected share link by email, or generate a printable page with the URL, password, and QR code to hand over at their appointment. The patient opens their CBCT or X-rays in modern web browsers — no account, no app, and no CD required.
PostDICOM works as a complete standalone system — no additional practice management software integration required. Create a scan order before the patient sits in the chair; your CBCT unit or X-ray sensor retrieves the worklist automatically via DICOM MWL. For walk-in or unscheduled scans, PostDICOM builds the patient record from the DICOM tags in the incoming study.
Store treatment plans, referral letters, consent forms, and other non-imaging documents alongside the DICOM studies. Share a single link that gives the specialist access to the CBCT scan and all relevant clinical documents in one browser session.
Specialist Sharing
Yes — the specialist clicks a password-protected share link and opens the full 3D CBCT scan in any modern browser with no additional software to install at their end. Specialists don't always have the same CBCT software you do, and PostDICOM eliminates that friction entirely: send a link, and they're viewing MPR and 3D volume rendering on any device, wherever they are.
